We understand that patients may occasionally want to seek a second opinion or switch to a different psychiatrist within our clinic. Here’s how we can help:
- Booking with a Different Psychiatrist:
- As an existing patient, you are welcome to request an appointment with another psychiatrist within the clinic.
- To do so, simply book online directly through this link: Book Your Appointment Here (link:www.mindoasis.com.au/newpatientbookonline/). Simply choose your preferred date and time, and confirm your appointment.
- New Initial Assessment:
- Please note that if you decide to see a different psychiatrist, you will need to book a new initial assessment appointment, not a follow-up appointment.
- Each psychiatrist has their own approach to conducting assessments, so a comprehensive evaluation is required before they can develop a treatment plan, offer a diagnosis, or prescribe medication. However, once you grant access, the new psychiatrist will have access to your medical records from your original psychiatrist, which will help streamline the assessment process and allow them to get up to speed more quickly.
- New Referral Letter:
- All patients will need to provide a new GP referral, even if the original referral is still valid for the specified period (usually up to one year). This is because the referral is linked to the specific doctor (provider number) who initially issued it. Once a referral has been used with a particular doctor, it cannot be used for another doctor, and a new referral for the new doctor is required.
- Medicare Rule to the Patient about Item Code 92437 (Telehealth Initial Consultation):
- Please be advised that Item Code 92437 can only be claimed once within a two-year period for a particular patient. After the first service is claimed under this item, it cannot be claimed again within two years for the same type of service.
- However, you can still proceed with the consultation under private billing. In this case, the full fee for the consultation will apply, and unfortunately, Medicare will not provide a rebate for this particular service.
- We recommend that you check with Medicare directly to confirm your eligibility for a Medicare claim.
- Transfer of Care:
- Your medical records and treatment history will remain securely stored in our system, ensuring continuity of care. The new psychiatrist will have access to your records to provide a smooth transition and optimal treatment.
- Respecting Your Choice:
- Your comfort and treatment satisfaction are our priorities. We fully support your right to choose the practitioner that best fits your needs.
